FATHOM – SEGMENTS

Here’s a recording of the pivotal moment of ‘Fathom‘ where the poem, like a musical piece, reaches the peak of its arch-like structure.

This is an improved version of the poem in the first post about the project that would later become ‘Fathom’, ‘Cross Section‘. Listen to my other recordings on my SoundCloud page here.

CROSS SECTION

‘Cross Section’

Is there more water
in this slice of sky
swarming with clouds
than in this slice of sea
teeming with breakers?

Like a leitmotif
passed between
two sections
of an orchestra
the white horses
echo
the mare’s tails
and
the mare’s tails
echo
the white horses
like a leitmotif
passed between
two sections
of an orchestra.

Is there more water
in this slice of sky
swarming with clouds
than in this slice of sea
teeming with breakers?
