HER
by Robin Boothroyd
I’ve just stumbled across these lines in one of my notebooks. They were written last month about a beautiful stranger I sat opposite on the train.

‘Her’
What tools, what techniques,
What words would do justice
To the curve of her jaw?
Which phrases portray
The glow of her cheeks?
Everything about her is so vivid.

Unfortunately I didn’t have time to write a fair copy and slip it in her coat pocket.
